Medical School passes out 354 health workers

St. Michael Lubaga Hospital Training School, an affiliate medical school of Uganda Martyrs’ Hospital, Lubaga, held its 6th graduation ceremony at the school’s campus in Lubaga. A total of 354 students were awarded diplomas and certificates in courses including Medical Theatre Techniques, Medical Laboratory Techniques, Comprehensive Nursing and Midwifery. The function was presided over by the Acting Commissioner for private schools/institutions at the Ministry of Education, Hon. George Mutekanga, who asked the graduands to discover and utilize their added talents. Hon. Mutekanga revealed that Government had plans to reform the health sector as a strategy to reduce the shortage of health workers.  “We shall modularize the courses, to give students the opportunity to get skills from various trades. A student of nursing can also enroll for midwifery and theatre technology.”
